The world is protected with a global region. This region allows players to build freely, as long as they are not building in another player's protected region, while still having specific restrictions.
The easiest way to find dials to visit is by asking someone currently online, checking out the [[Tourism]] page, or visiting [https://www.novymap-qvh.top| Novymap] (the unofficial Novylen webmap for finding dials and railways).

Current restrictions include:
Some of the main locations new players should visit are:
*Ravager griefs - Ravagers will not be able to destroy blocks
*Enderman griefs - Endermen will not be able to move or place blocks
*PVP - Players will not be able to harm other players
*TNT - TNT will not be able to damage terrain
*Fire spread - Fire will not spread
*Ender dragon block damage - The ender dragon will not be able to break blocks
*Lava fire - Lava will not be able to catch blocks on fire
*Entities destroying painting / item frames - Entities such as creepers or ghasts will not be able to destroy paintings or item frames
*Sculk growth - Sculk will not spread from a sculk catalyst upon a mob's death

Some of these restrictions can be lifted with player-protected regions, such as PVP or TNT.

Fifteenth Spawn, the current spawn point

SMP is Novylen's survival world. This is the most popular world on Novylen.

The World

The current world size is 40K x 40K. The world was created during the Infdev versions, likely on April 10th, 2010, in Infdev 20100330-1611 and updated throughout the years. Terrain glitches, as well as other update-related glitches, can be found throughout the world. Some areas of the world are restricted and blocked off with a bedrock wall. This restriction allows for terrain to be regenerated after new updates without regenerating chunks that players have built on.

The world is protected with a global region. This region allows players to build freely, as long as they are not building in another player's protected region, while still having specific restrictions.

Current restrictions include:

  • Ravager griefs - Ravagers will not be able to destroy blocks
  • Enderman griefs - Endermen will not be able to move or place blocks
  • PVP - Players will not be able to harm other players
  • TNT - TNT will not be able to damage terrain
  • Fire spread - Fire will not spread
  • Ender dragon block damage - The ender dragon will not be able to break blocks
  • Lava fire - Lava will not be able to catch blocks on fire
  • Entities destroying painting / item frames - Entities such as creepers or ghasts will not be able to destroy paintings or item frames
  • Sculk growth - Sculk will not spread from a sculk catalyst upon a mob's death

Some of these restrictions can be lifted with player-protected regions, such as PVP or TNT.

Spawn

The SMP spawn point has changed locations throughout the years. Each spawn is numbered numerically, from 0 - 15. The world spawn is located at First Spawn, but when the world went into multiplayer, the spawn point would be moved to Zero Spawn. Most spawns will have general information about the server, as well as builds created by other players. The current spawn point is located at Fifteenth Spawn.

Joining SMP

Type /queue smp, /smp or /q to join the SMP. New players join in at 15spawn, the latest spawn point as of March 2026 (teleport to 15spawn by using /spawn or /dial spawn if near a stargate).

Diggy Diggy Hole

Diggyhole spawn

Located at /dial diggyhole, this is currently the only remaining side world on the SMP, and is used as a resource world for gathering items that can no longer be obtained in the regular world. Diggy hole has strict rules with no ender pearls, no elytras, no Runecraft, and no teleport commands at all. The only exit is by heading back to the world's spawn at 0,0 and using the stargate to dial out. Diggy hole is currently managed by rilelyscastle, and has existed ever since October 2024.

Donator perks

On SMP, donators get more out of their role than on Creative.

/nxgo <gatename> - Quickly teleport to stargates without the use of a stargate.

Two extra kits being /kit stonetools and /kit moretorches. The stonetools kit gives 1 Iron Sword and Stone pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe.

Access to 1 NPC. The NPC is able to follow you, follow your movement with its head, talk, and look like anything you want. To get an NPC, file a ticket to ask the staff for one with /ticket create <message>.

Updating Minecraft Versions

If you have ever seen a large bedrock wall, behind that is land reserved for future updates. This land is unavailable to players so no builds get destroyed when updating and there will be a fresh new piece of land without needing to expand the world border. The only known location of a bedrock wall at the moment, is a long strip along the eastern end of the world. Usually, when an update occurs, there is a stargate that gets built in the most recent land - /dial new. The latest /dial new is currently land from 1.21.4. Here is a list of all the different 'new' dials:

/dial new_1 - 'New' 1.20 chunks

/dial new120 - 1.21 chunks

/dial new - 1.21.4 chunks
