Is this the oldest Minecraft server?
We are one of the oldest known Minecraft servers. The server went online the day of the release of Minecraft Multiplayer on Wed Aug 04 2010. The map is the owner's old Infdev world, and we also host a creative server that originated from Minecraft Classic.

Did the server becoming popular cause a lot of griefing?
No, all griefing on Novylen is reversible by moderators using a simple command, and the server has multiple regular backups.

Why is the Discord in slowmode?
To prevent spam and make things more manageable for the moderators.

Why are there no voice channels on the Discord?
We believe that if we host voice channels on Discord, it is our responsibility to make sure they aren't used for malicious purposes. This means we would have to moderate them, which we don't want to do.

Why is the player cap so low?
To limit lag and maintain a cozy/friendly environment.

When will the broken things in the lobby be fixed?
It is unlikely that the lobby will be a priority for us.

How many hoppers can I have in a chunk?
50 per chunk.

How many mobs can I have in a chunk?
It depends on the mob, but a good rule of thumb is 20 per chunk.

Are flying machines allowed on the server?
It's a grey area. Typically, we allow them as long as they are not constantly running.

Can I become a moderator?
No.

Where can I see the big city?
Use the command /dial wacon.

How large is the world?
The world is 40k x 40k.

Will the world border be expanded?
There are currently no plans to expand the world border.

Why are there restricted areas on the map?
These areas exist to allow for the generation of new terrain after updates without having to regenerate chunks that players have built on.

How often is the Overviewer map updated?
The Overviewer map is updated every half a week.

What should I do if the server goes offline?
If the server goes offline, players should wait for the scheduled reset at 8 AM GMT. If the server does not come back online, players can contact the admins in the #bans-and-complaints discord channel for assistance.

Where can I find food on the server?
Players can use the command /dial noobfeeder or check the farm at /dial topside to find food.
